Abstract
This lecture is dealing with some considerations drawn from the results obtained during surveys performed in 1970. They represent the preliminary phase of a long term programme concerning the dispersion of pollutants in coastal waters of the Northern Adriatic Sea, controlled by physical, chemical and biological processes. At present, two foundamental sources of pollution have been approached, the Venice lagoon and the Po River. In fact, along the eastern coast no river flow occurs and along the northern one every freshwater contribution can be neglected in comparison with the run-off of the Po-River. Nevertheless, in the future, the effect of any source will be taken into account.
