The distribution and population dynamics of the less common strand line plants have been monitored on a yearly basis along the entire Belgian coast since 1982. Five species have been added to the Belgian flora. Due to the dynamic environment (mostly sandy coasts) most species are rare or show highly fluctuating population levels. Some measures to be taken to favour the development of strand line vegetation are proposed.
