Abstract | This review considers the nature and relative importance of atmospheric, groundwater and riverine inputs of nitrogen, phosphorus and silicon, and how these influence coastal eutrophication pressures. The effect of modification of riverine fluxes within estuaries is also discussed. The extent of the perturbation of these fluxes by human activity is considered along with possible future changes in the fluxes. |
