Abstract
A new monoplacophoran is described from about 1000 meters depth on the Galicia Bank, off northwestern Spain. The shell is small and depressed and the prismatic layer consists of very large prisms. The radular configuration and external morphology of the soft parts are described. On the basis of the shell structure and similarity in the soft parts, we classify the species in Laevipilina McLean.
