Abstract
In the framework of the permits for the construction and exploitation of the Westdiep Sea Farm, by the Colruyt Group, monitoring of the soft-substrate macrobenthos will be carried out in Zone C, off the coast of Nieuwpoort. The baseline studies on macrobenthos were carried out during 2021. The objectives of this monitoring are (i) to determine the status of the macrobenthic endofauna (macrobenthos) of soft substrates in the concession area of the licensed project, and (2) to identify any impacts from the installation and operation of the marine farm. Students will be involved in collection of these samples and will get live insights in the composition of the Abra alba community.
