Abstract | Polysiphonia senticulosa is a red seaweed native to the North Pacific Ocean. It was probably introduced to European waters along with Japanese oysters or by attaching itself to ship hulls. It was first observed along the Belgian coast on the 26th of March 2001 in the Sluice Dock of Ostend. Polysiphonia senticulosa mainly adheres to hard substrates, such as rocks and oysters. Furthermore, it can be found on other algae in sheltered areas with gentle currents and wave action. |
